Game that was played at an event called DREAMstock (mentors from all over Vermont and Boston get together for an over night of bonding, learning, connecting and fun). Its like a crazy version of simon says where the word “jockey” has to be in front of actions. These are just some of the funny parts put together. This game is a great game to play!
Video about programing ideas
A lot of people dont realize how much money it takes to bring 30 people ice skating, rock climbing, or even order enough pizza for a party! We try to have one fundraiser a month to be able to support our mentoring program, DREAM and continue doing amazing things. Luckily, we’re creative people and get amazingly fun ideas!
This past Friday at Champlain College we had a very successful fundraiser… we came out with $402.59 total! What did we do? Pied teachers and RAs in the face!!!

“I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to become comfortable with a book, not daunted. Books shouldn’t be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage.”
— Roald Dahl
Not only do I appreciate this as an English major, but it serves as a lesson for those who criticize immigrants for not immediately being fluent in the king’s English the second they arrive on “American” soil.
I’m gonna start calling my momma mu methren.
Not our DREAM program, but UVM’s works with kids whose first language isn’t English. Its not always easy for the kids to adjust to life in Burlington, but they do always seem to have fun doing it.
First of several videos made for a class. I had a lot of technical difficulties this week, including final cut on my laptop stop working so this video ended up being a result of me playing with imovie (which i hate)

Yesterday was my DREAM program’s first friday of programing! it was “stuplenderful”! We had at least 20 new mentors coming to check out our program hopefully at least 6 will join and stick around for all four years of college!!! We had a party in the Fireside lounge at Champlains campus, had pizza supplied by the Center for Service and Civic Engagement, and of course fun, games, and toilet paper supplied by DREAM!!!

It was not only the first Friday, but the first time Ive felt comfortable about leaving my mentee Sam*…

She was totally the highlight of the party once i told her we need all these new recruits to see how much fun DREAM is and to get them to become mentors! But of course she gave death glares and said “Nope not gonna happen… lets not talk about it” when anyone brought up that I was a senior and was graduating. But I got her to point out two or three recruits she liked and I’ll find her a new mentor. She doesnt get how awesome its gonna be to have two mentors this year!

This is my mentee being mummified by mentor Talia and recruit Colleen (who is her current number one pick to become her new mentor.. shhh).
At the end of the day I gave Sam her 13th birthday gift. its an engraved necklace signed your mentor and friend, Laura… its awesome and she loved it! I wishhhhh i was going to be around next Friday. it makes me nervous not to be there or have jess there… hopefully she’ll bond amazingly with a recruit and she’ll talk to me about it the next day when I visit her (honestly cant go a week w/o seeing her).
